I love Jumping Stilts!! Firstly they remind me of Jar Jar Bink’s army in Star Wars, and who wouldn’t want to feel like they are in a futuristic movie? The amount of bounce that you can get is like nothing you will ever experience again. When I first put them on I was a little apprehensive, as I had never used stilts before, but found them really easy to master.

I love running with them along the beach promenade and I get questions all the time about them. I am not Australian but my friends now call me Kangaroo. It would be interesting to see a race with a kangaroo and a guy on Jumping Stilts. I love having competitions with my friends to see who can jump the highest and who can jump the furthest. What surprised me is that I can actually get a really good workout from just jumping around. Running is so old fashioned now that I can jump and bounce everywhere I go.

The best part of my fourth grade schooling in elementary school was square dancing on stilts. Our teachers had crafted the stilts for her students, since she was also known to make birdhouses as gifts. However, I remember her allowing us to practiced for sever months before she finally introduced the music. Having already learned how to square dance in first grade, I pretty much had the standard songs engraved in my memory. The difficult part became the fun through careful call outs of our teacher.

Still, she sat and watched and enjoyed herself just the same. As a group of young students, we were told that she had vision and ear disabilities, but the following year she was able to join us. Lastly, we were also awarded for our abilities. Very quickly it was known who had an exceptional talent at dancing. These kids that stood out were able to stand and walk with the stilts by supporting each other in their dance. These two kids also excelled in jump rope, so perhaps they were simply natural born athletes, and they won the awards all the times.

I had my first experience with cheap jumping stilts when I came to L.A. to visit my cousin. I am scared of heights, and I was really scared to try it. It looks like I would not be able to control it. But then he borrowed a shorter one from a friends and wore his so he can jump with me. As I was scared, I had to wear all sorts of safety precautions such as a helmet and knee pads.

Remember that preparation is the best weapon you can have against fear. You need to accept the fact that you will feel fear during the jump. Fear is completely natural and is no way an indication of your inadequacy for the task. Some people are great at disguising fear but everyone has fear. Accept that you are afraid and still jump.

4) Press a pressure point: There are certain points in the palm which, when squeezed, can help reduce your stress.
